China's exports rose by 28.1 per cent yearon- year in July to reach US$29.2bn, while imports reached US$26.99bn, 28.9 per cent higher than in July of last year, according to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation (Moftec). Exports for the first seven months of 2002 totalled US$171.2bn, 16.2 per cent more than in the same period of 2001. Imports for the same period totalled US$155.6bn, 13.2 per cent higher.
The ministry said that July's growth in exports was led by electronics and machinery, while imports of soybeans and oil products had fallen.
