Explosions in Urumuqi, the capital of China’s restive Xinjiang region, killed 31 people early this morning, state-run Xinhua news agency reported. Witnesses said two vehicles plowed into people in a market at 7:50am. Explosives were thrown out of the vehicles. Photos allegedly taken from the scene show people lying on the ground, with clothing, stools and other items strewn across the street, South China Morning Post reported. Other pictures showed fires engulfing debris on a tree-lined street, in what appears to be the latest of several violent attacks related to the region.
