Foreign direct investment (FDI) in China dropped for the fourth consecutive month
in September according to the Ministry of Commerce.
Last month FDI
reached just US$3.56 billion, down 30 percent year on year.
Chinese
officials blamed the aftermath of SARS for the decline and said they were very optimistic
considering contractual FDI in September rose by more than 90 percent year on year to
US$11.68 billion.
Overall FDI stood at US$40.24 billion for the first nine
months, a growth of 11.85 percent over the same period last year while contractual FDI
