Huawei Technologies, the mainland's no. 1 telecom equipment manufacturer, was one of five companies to get new mobile-phone manufacturing licenses, the first issued in six years, Bloomberg reported. The approvals were released under new rules aimed at increasing competition just a month after the government warned that China faced overcapacity in the mobile segment. The licenses allow the companies to start new production lines capable of producing 11m handsets annually.
