China's year-on-year fixed-asset investment growth of 26.5% in April was greater than expected and exceeded Beijing's 20% growth target, leading analysts to suggest China's economic growth would be stronger than the government's forecast. Between January and April, urban fixed asset investment rose 25.7% from a year earlier to US$169.2bn, versus last year's 42.8% growth rate, according to the National Statistics Bureau.
