Food supplier to fire 340 workers from infamous factory

Shanghai Husi, supplier to international fast-food chains in China including McDonald’s and KFC, announced on its website that it would fire 340 staff from a scandal-ridden factory where state media reported in July that workers had mixed expired meat with fresh supplies for consumption, South China Morning Post reported. Since the scandal broke most Shanghai workers at the company, a subsidiary of US food supplier OSI Group, had been on paid leave. The Shanghai Food and Drug Administration said it met executives of OSI China yesterday morning, reminding the company that it was responsible for Shanghai Husi’s violations, according to the state-owned China News Service.
