Ford books record Q3 China auto sales

Ford Motor’s China third-quarter vehicle sales jumped 79% from a year earlier as the central government’s stimulus policies boosted auto demand, Reuters reported. Ford said it sold a record of 119,338 vehicles in China for the July-September period, with sales for the first nine months up 32% year-on-year to 316,639 units. Changan Ford Mazda, a tie-up with Chongqing Changan Auto Co and Mazda Motor, sold 227,839 cars in the first nine months, up 43% from the same period last year. China launched a number of initiatives to boost a flagging auto market, including tax cuts on cars with engine displacements of 1.6 liters or less.
