Former top general charged with corruption

Chinese military prosecutors have filed corruption charges against Gu Junshan, a former top general, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing a Monday report by state-controlled Xinhua News Agency. Gu was a lieutenant general and deputy head of logistics for the military when he was removed from his post two years ago without any public explanation. He hasn’t been seen in public since. The charges against him, which include embezzlement and bribery, make him the first military figure to be charged with corruption since President Xi Jinping launched an antigraft campaign soon after taking power in 2012.
