Fujifilm announced plans to close its digital camera plant in Japan and move all production of digital cameras to China, Shanghai Securities News reported (in Chinese). The move is a part of Fuji's"Slim and Strong" strategy, which will see the company focus on product development in Japan rather than production. Fuji's mainland camera manufacturing base in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, which has became major producer of Fuji digital cameras is expected to take on the additional production capacity. The shift is expected to be finished by the end of the 2007 fiscal year.
