China's social security fund hinted it would invest in the Hong Kong government's new global bond issue, the South China Morning Post reported. Director-general Xiang Huaicheng reportedly joked that no bonds would be available for the fund to buy after massive sales on their first day on sale. Hong Kong recently announced its first global bond offering of US- and HK-dollar denominated paper with various maturities for retail and institutional investors.
