Grace to boost output tenfold
Chinese chipmaker Grace Semiconductor Manufacturing said the group plans to increase production tenfold to 100,000 silicon wafers a month by 2006. Company chairman Zou Shichang said it intends to make 10,000 200mm wafers a month this year at its first Shanghai plant, rising to 27,000 by the end of next year.
China's semiconductor market will grow 18 per cent this year to US$27bn, according to market research firm Gartner.
