Hatsu in push for direct links

Hatsu Marine, set up in the UK in January by Taiwan’s giant shipping line Evergreen, has expanded its service coverage to seven shipping links between Asia and the US. From June, the US Federal Maritime Commission has granted Hatsu coverage of seven routes, three of which will involve direct trade between China and the US west coast. The three China services, operated by Lloyd Triestino vessels, will include calls at Shanghai (twice weekly), Ningbo, Qingdao and Yantian.

The company is issuing its own bills of lading, and has its own dedicated sales and operational staff in place. Operations are expected to expand to trades between Europe and Asia, as well as between Europe and North America.
