An explosion at a coalmine in Henan province left at least 29 people injured, state media reported. The explosion, thought to have been caused by a build up of gas, occurred at the Xinsheng Coal Mine near the town of Liangwa. The blast came less than a month after China's worst mining accident in years, in which more than 120 people died, also the result of gas explosion and also in Henan province. China's mining industry has the worst safety record in the world, but in provinces like Henan mines offer virtually the only jobs available for hundreds of thousands.
