Raffe Ibrahamian, owner and manager of Cantina Agave, a Mexican restaurant in Shanghai:
“Business is good, as usual. We got a couple of phone calls asking if everything is OK. I say, OK – we’re not in Mexico. It’s like when SARS came out… do I not hang out with Chinese people when I’m in the US? You don’t have an infected guy from Mexico coming here who’s sitting and eating. First of all, he can’t get in the country … and you can’t get it from food, and I tell them that. Because we’re a Mexican restaurant, it doesn’t mean that if something happens there, it happens here. It’s ridiculous! … Like I said, we get phone calls, but business is good. Last night we had our Cinco de Mayo party, and it was insane.”
