Taiwan-based HTC Corp said that the firm would begin selling a smart phone based on Google’s Android operating system (OS) in China next month, the Wall Street Journal reported. The phone would be the first to be sold in China using the Android OS. HTC Chief Executive Peter Chou said the phone would be a version of its Magic model designed with specific software for China Mobile. Pricing has not been set, but the phone is expected to sell for around RMB5,000 (US$730). HTC said it may also offer Android-based phones to operators China Telecom and China Unicom.
