Hu signs deal with Romania

President Hu Jintao signed economic agreements with Romanian president Ion Iliescu during a three-day trip to the Eastern European nation. Agreements included a deal in which Chinese companies will construct a 990 meter bridge over the Danube river at a projected cost of US$300 million. The bridge will be located in eastern Romania and is scheduled to take four years for completion. Romanian president Iliescu said that the country is seeking more Chinese investment in the transportation, IT and telecommunications sectors. Hu is scheduled for a stop in Uzbekistan to participate in anti-terrorism talks before returning to China.
