Hunan fog worsens weather woes

Heavy fog descended on parts of Hunan province yesterday, further impeding transportation during a fourth week of unusually heavy snow, AP reported. Flights were delayed and road traffic was stopped in parts of Hunan, with visibility in the capital city, Changsha, reduced to about 46 meters. Other cities in the province, including Chenzhou, have been without electricity for more than a week, as the weather destroyed power lines and prevented coal from being transported to power stations. On Saturday, a stampede to get on a train at Guangzhou railway station caused one death. Thousands had been waiting at the station for days as trains were delayed. Rail service in Guangzhou could resume normal schedules on Sunday.
