Molding industry in Hunan province of China started comparatively late. In early 80s of last century, independent mold makers were still rarely seen in the area.
However, with a drive brought by the rapid growth of industries across the country that has continued for more than 20 years, molding industry in Hunan has developed with a leap.
The levels of technical equipment and product quality among Hunan mold makers are gradually improving, and thus, the ranking of Hunan’s molding industry is also rising, gaining the province with a reputation of ‘the largest molding province in Central China’.
With Changsha city as a center, mold and standard mold part makers and sellers in Hunan have spread themselves all over the province and basically formed a pattern as below:
Auto and electric machinery mold manufacturers — Changsha, Xiangtan and Zhuzhou;
Plastics and plaster mold manufacturers — Changde, Huaihua and Loudi; and
Light industrial, agricultural machinery, construction material and war industrial mold manufacturers — Hengyang, Yongzhou, Yiyang and Shaoyang.
According to an incompleted survery quoted in the “Hunan mold-working enterprise list”, in 2007, 625 companies in the province were in the sector of mold-working, stardard mold part manufacturing and scientific researching, with a total production value more than RMB5 billion and the ability in developing large-scale precise molds. The mold enterprises have been developing well in Hunan.
