Shares of Lenovo Group tanked after IBM sold a 3.5% stake in the Chinese computer manufacturer Tuesday, according to the Wall Street Journal. IBM made US$123 million from the sale of 300 million Lenovo shares to unnamed buyers. The Hong Kong-listed shares were sold at a 7% discount from Monday's closing price. An agreement for IBM to offload its Lenovo shares by November 2007 has caused Lenovo to suffer in the market for the past two years. IBM first acquired 1.31 billion shares of Lenovo in 2004 as part of Lenovo's takeover of IBM's personal computer business.
