IFC to invest in mainland electronics sector

The International Finance Corp (IFC), the private investment division of the World Bank, said it plans to invest US$300 million in China in 2004. Officials said the funds will be focused on long-term investments in the electronics industry, likely in chip testing and packaging or flat-panel displays. The IFC has invested US$1.5 billion in 65 mainland-based projects with investments in 2003 totaling US$200 million.
