Trade between India and China is expected to reach US$20 billion in the next couple of years, Defense Minister Pranab Mukherjee told a conference in Singapore. The Indian minister said there is enough space for both countries to develop and grow together, "not at the expense of the other." Trade between the two countries hit US$18 billion in 2005. India is Asia's fourth-biggest economy and grew 9.3% year-on-year in the three months leading up to March. Mukherjee said relations between the two countries have reached a certain degree of maturity and both have been working towards defusing border tensions, the International Herald Tribune reported.
