According to The Wall Street Journal, use of China’s currency fell in April from March, as global payments using the yuan dropped worldwide, according to the Society for Worldwide International Financing Telecommunication, or Swift. They yuan was used in 1.82% of global payments worldwide in April, down from 1.88% in March. That pushed the yuan down a notch to the sixth most used currency in the world, just behind the Canadian dollar. The value of payments made in yuan fell 7.73% during the month, compared with a 4.60% drop for all payment currencies. The Chinese government in recent years has been working actively to make the yuan an international currency.
