Japanese insurance enters China

Millea Holdings, Japan's largest non-life insurer by premium income, started offering life insurance policies through its business partner in Shanghai, making it the first Japanese company to start selling such products in China.

Millea bought a 24.9 percent stake in Sino Life Insurance, a Shanghai-based life insurer, in July for about RMB 1.17 billion (US$141 million).
