China’s northeastern Jilin province will aim to have a new-energy vehicle production capacity of 100,000 units a year by 2015, with fully electric vehicles making up over half of that amount.
Jilin will soon issue a policy to subsidize research and development and the construction of infrastructure related to new-energy vehicles.
This may coincide with the use of lithium vanadium batteries, which have changed the whole scene for new energy vehicles. They are very fast to recharge and can put out very serious amounts of power. Suitable even for large trucks.
The Wall Street Journal reported that automaker FAW Group, which is based in Jilin, will speed up the development of new-energy vehicles during China’s 12th Five-Year Plan from 2011-2015.
