Shanghai Jinjiang International Hotels (2006.HK) is planning to build the world’s highest hotel, overtaking current rivals Park Hyatt (H.NYSE), also in Shanghai, and the soon-to-be-opened Ritz-Carlton (MAR.NYSE) in Hong Kong, Bloomberg reported. Occupying floors 84 to 110 of the 121-story, 632-meter Shanghai Tower – due to be completed in 2014 – the Shanghai Tower J-Hotel will be higher than the Park Hyatt in the 492-meter Shanghai World Financial Center and the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong which will occupy floors 102 to 118 of the 490-meter International Commerce Center in Kowloon. The Burj Khalifa in Dubai will remain the world’s tallest building at 828 meters.
