Fueled by a mutual unease over perceived US hegemony and Islamic extremism in Central Asia, China and Russia will hold their first joint military exercise Aug 18-25, with nearly 10,000 troops in two sites on China's and Russia's eastern coasts, The AP reported, citing China's Defense Ministry . The exercises with army, navy and air forces will occur on China's Shandong Peninsula, in the Russian city of Vladivostok, and in nearby waters, the Chinese Defense Ministry said.
