Jump in travel to Asia Pacific region

According to the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), Chinese outbound travelers to the Asia-Pacific region will jump from an estimated 45 million in 2010 to possibly 60 million in 2011. This is based on future orders and the fact that arrivals from China to the region grew by something like 30% in the first six months of 2010.
This has been going on for a while. The figure for 2000 was just under 10 million. By 2009 it had increased to 38 million.
Nevertheless, the key destination is still North America. Arrivals from China to the US almost doubled – from 270,000 in 2005 to 525,000 in 2009. And outbound Chinese tourists are spending more.
