Demand for laptop computers in China recovered in February after falling in the last quarter of 2008, the Financial Times reported. Taiwan-based notebook manufacturers Compal and Asustek have both reported strong sales, and Compal has forecast that the global notebook market will grow by 13% this year, led by a recovery in China. IDC, a market research firm, has predicted a 4% rise in PC shipments in China this year. However, some analysts have cautioned against misplaced optimism, noting that the short-term sales boost could simply represent re-stocking of inventories.
