LDK Solar has announced a two-year sales deal with BYD worth roughly US$300 million. Under the deal, LDK will provide monthly shipments of polysilicon, or solar wafers, starting in January 2011.
Earlier this year, BYD announced that it would spend more than US$3 billion over five years to construct one of China’s biggest solar power battery plants in Shangluo. At the same time, its all-electric vehicle, the e6, is being readied for a launch in the United States.
GreenTech reports that although BYD has struggled somewhat with slow sales of its electric vehicles, the company has apparently maintained its aggressive stance in the green sector.
