China's voracious demand for energy has led its lawmakers to pass a renewable energy law declaring that China's energy will be supplied by non-fossil sources, including wind, solar power and thermal power, state media reported. The law requires power grid operators to buy renewable source-generated power and provides financial incentives to renewable energy projects. Power remains unavailable in 20,000 or so remote villages housing about 30 million people.
