Lenovo has announced it is to slash 5% of its workforce worldwide – about 1,000 full-time staff. The major restructuring, which will take place in stages over six months to a year, should save the computer maker US$250 million. Lenovo became the world’s third largest computer maker after purchasing IBM’s personal computer division. While 350 jobs are to go in the United States, no positions are to be cut in China itself.
