Lenovo Group will focus its overseas investment strategy on emerging markets while continuing to pursue acquisitions, the South China Morning Post reported, citing comments by the company’s chairman Yang Yuanqing. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Chinese People’s Consultative Conference, Yang said Lenovo is looking towards India, Brazil, Mexico, the Middle East and eastern Europe for investment opportunities. He noted that market penetration levels in these areas are low but declined to elaborate on the nature of potential investments. While acquisitions abroad could be used to expand Lenovo’s manufacturing base, Yang reiterated that the firm would continue to manufacture notebook computers on the Chinese mainland.
