Lenovo Group (0992.HKG) says its plans to purchase IBM’s (IBM.NYSE) low-end server unit and Google’s (GOOG.NASDAQ) Motorola Mobility business should be completed by year’s end, Reuters reported, citing comments from Lenovo Chief Executive Officer Yang Yuanqing on Wednesday. The deals are undergoing approval by US and Chinese regulators, and last week, The Wall Street Journal reported that the US$2.3 billion IBM deal was in limbo while the US government investigated national security issues. Cybersecurity tensions between the US and China have intensified since the US Department of Justice charged five PLA officials with cyberspying in May.
