Mainland and Taiwan tourism offices

May 7 will see the opening of the Taipei office of the Cross-Strait Tourism Exchange Association, while the Taiwan Strait Tourism Association will launch its Beijing office on May 4. Yet another indication of them working together.

The offices will focus on tourism consultation, advertising, coordination and dispute resolution and will strengthen cross-strait exchange and cooperation, and contribute to the mutual prosperity and development of both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

Mainland China is now the second-largest source of tourists to Taiwan. About 606,000 mainland tourists visited the island last year.

Alibaba reported China will see around 54 million tourists go abroad this year, up from 47 million last year, according to the Annual Report of China Outbound Tourism Development 2009-2010 released by the China Tourism Academy.
