Mainland mobile phone sales up 40%

China's mobile phone sales jumped 40% year on year to 120 million units, <a href="http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070204/tc_afp/chinatelecommobile_070204144222&quot; style="color:#FF0000;text-decoration:underline">AFP</a> reported. The report cited figures from China Mobile Communications Association deputy chief, Xie Linzhen. Xie said sales would rise a further 25% this year to 150 million units. He added that Chinese mobile phone users buy a new phone on average every 21 months. China had 461 million mobile phone users in 2006, and 68 million in 2005. Global mobile phone sales grew 25% last year, with total shipments of almost one billion units. It is expected to grow 20% this year.
