The US-headquartered McDonald’s Corporation has been ordered to remove its signature golden arches from outside 30 of its 81 outlets in Beijing, Xinhua reported. The arches have fallen foul of a municipal by-law forbidding shop displays separated from the premises themselves.
The director of public relations at Beijing McDonald’s Food Co said that removing the signs would hurt the company because they were responsible for enticing 70 per cent of customers into the restaurants. However, the company said it would respect the regulations and act accordingly.
