German carmaker Daimler (DAI.ETR) says it expects its Mercedes-Benz sales in China to overtake Audi (NSU.ETR) and BMW’s (BMW.ETR) China sales this year, Reuters reported, citing Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Mercedes-Benz’s momentum in China stalled in 2012, with sales falling behind BMW and Audi. In August Daimler announced plans to launch 20 new or upgraded models in China over two years as it seeks to boost Mercedes-Benz’s China yearly sales by a third to over 300,000 cars in 2015. It will also open a Beijing design studio this summer, and will double its engineers employed in China over two years, from 230 currently.
