Miners' families storm government office

Numbing loss turned to rage when hundreds of miners' relatives stormed a local government office in Shaanxi province, demanding information on Sunday's deadly mine blast. The incident in Miaowan township came after Huo Shichang, the province's top coal official, said the build up of carbon monoxide left no hope of survivors among the over 100 miners still trapped in the state-owned Chenjiashan mine. State media, quoting a witness, suggested the riot might have been triggered by officials restricting mine visits to two family members. Only 65 bodies of the 166 have been recovered so far.
