US Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin told US media that the much-anticipated trade talks between White House representatives and China are scheduled for Thursday and Friday, with IP rights joint ventures topping the agenda for discussions.
Describing himself as “cautiously optimistic”, Mnuchin added that his team is “looking to have a very frank discussion on trade, on the issues of the trade imbalance.”
Amongst those accompanying Mnuchin are US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, White House trade adviser Peter Navarro, and White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow, reports Reuters.
Trade tensions have somewhat simmered from the high-temperatures of last month, where President Trump threatened China with $100 billion in additional tariffs on Chinese exports after signing in $50 billion worth the previous week.
