Mobile phone subscribers topped 300 million at the end of May, the China Daily reported, quoting Ministry of Information Industry (MII) sources. MII reported that mobile providers generated US$25.3 billion in revenue in the first five months of the year, a 13.4% increase on the same period a year ago. New subscribers in May numbered 4.8 million. MII projects new mobile subscribers to reach 60 million for 2004. MII also said fixed-line subscribers by the end of May numbered 290 million.
