The Ministry of Health (MoH) said Sunday that it had identified mainland China’s first suspected case of H1N1 swine flu, AP reported. A 30-year-old student surnamed Bao came down with symptoms of the flu after recently returning to China from the United States, where he had been studying at an unspecified university. The South China Morning Post reported that Bao had flown from St Louis, Missouri to Tokyo via St Paul, Minnesota, then flew to Beijing before catching a final flight to Chengdu. “According to clinical appearances and the results of laboratory tests, the initial diagnosis is that it is a suspected case of type A H1N1 flu,” the MoH said in a statement. Premier Wen Jiabao has warned against complacency in fighting the spread of swine flu.
