The Far Eastern Economic Review reported that gaming giant Sociedad de Tourism e Diversoes de Macau (STDM) associated with billionaire Stanley Ho is under investigation for possible links to a money-laundering scheme reportedly involving billions of US dollars originating in China. Suggesting a possible link, the magazine said the probe comes after Stanley Ho's estranged sister, Winnie Ho, was forced to give up her multimillion-dollar stake in STDM. She reputedly provided the start-up capital for Ho's gambling empire.
