Nepal, Tibet agree to boost trans-border tourism

The governments of Nepal and Chinese-ruled Tibet Autonomous Region have signed a memorandum of understanding to boost tourism between the two territories. The document was signed in Tibet’s capital Lhasa at the end of a two-day meeting of the Nepal-Tibet (China) Joint Tourism Coordination Committee. The MoU provides for the operation of buses, promoting Nepal Tourism Year 2011 through media and hoarding boards at major crossroads, allowing regular Nepali helicopter and charter services in the sacred Mansarovar area, providing Tibet visas to international tourists from Nepal and operating more Chinese airlines between Lhasa and Kathmandu. Tibetan Review reported that the next round of meetings between top tourism officials from the two sides would be held November 11 in Kathmandu.
