New round of graft investigations slated for major SOEs

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection is planning to launch a fresh wave of inspections into state-owned enterprises to combat graft, South China Morning Post reported, citing a statement from commission head and Politburo Standing Committee member Wang Qishan. The first round of inspections, which Wang said would cover all major SOEs and financial firms this year, will involve 13 teams auditing 26 firms, including China National Petroleum Corporation, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, China National Nuclear Corporation, Sinochem Group, China Huaneng Group, State Grid Corporation of China, China Ocean Shipping Company (known as COSCO Group), China Datang Corporation, China Telecom, China Mobile, and Shanghai Baosteel Group Corporation.
