New York Institute of Technology opens in China

[photopress:MBA_New_York_Institute_of_Technology.jpg,full,alignright]An American-style undergraduate school in mainland China will be opened through a collaboration between the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) and Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications.

There is a new campus for NUPT, an elite Chinese scientific institute, plus a separate but joined complex for NYIT. This will initially offer four academic degree programs and it is planned to eventually hold 6,000 students.

The course will be taught completely in English which means that students will get the equivalent of an American degree without the expense of traveling abroad. Graduates have an option to earn ‘parallel degrees’ from NYIT and NUPT or, if they choose, just the NYIT degree.

Students can study solely in Nanjing or can opt to take some of their courses at NYIT campuses in New York.

NYIT’s Nanjing campus opened on October 8 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Dr. Edward Guiliano, president of NYIT. He said it was ‘likely China’s largest joint teaching venture with an American university.’
