Nike to set up logistics center in Suzhou

U.S.-based Nike, one of the world’s leading shoe makers, has announced that it will build what will be Asia’s largest logistics center in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province to enhance business development in China, sources reported.

The logistics center has a total area of 120,000 square meters and is located in Taicang Economic Development Area. The project will begin construction this year, and will be partly operational in 2010. The whole project will be completed by 2011.

Nike will use the high-tech sorters and conveyers in the center to move and track products such as footwear, apparel and equipment. In addition, Nike has reserved some area for further development.

According to Alibaba, so far Nike has seven logistics centers worldwide, in the U.S., Belgium, Canada, Japan and South Korea.
