Are any of us safe from the irresistible rise of the RMB? It appears that China Economic Review, until now content merely to add its tuppence to the debate from the sidelines, has been dragged into the revaluation ruccus. "I get paid in US dollars but my living costs are in RMB," opined one contributor recently. "I’m losing out with every paycheck." A number ideas have since barged their way into my inbox: dollar payments at fixed interest rates, payment at rate of exchange on the precise day of publication, etc. It’s as if I’m being propositioned by a flock of part time currency speculators – something which, until now, has only really taken place outside branches of Bank of China.
