US President Barack Obama will visit China later this year, the South China Morning Post reported. The White House announced the planned visit after Obama met with Chinese President Hu Jintao at the US ambassador’s residence in London prior to the upcoming G20 talks. In the meeting, Obama told Hu that if North Korea goes ahead with its planned rocket launch, the US will refer the issue to the UN Security Council. A Chinese spokesman said that Hu did not say China would block such an action. The US and China also agreed to continue the China-US strategic and economic dialogue (SED) initiated during the Bush administration, with the first meeting to occur in Washington later this year.
