Officials punished over Sars

Henan province has
punished 800 officials and health workers for failing to perform their duties to control the
spread of Sars, offi-cial media reported. Those disciplined included 133 health officials, 32
health work-ers, 271 township officials and 179 who worked in villages. They were found to
have been negligent in their work, while some had abandoned their posts without
permission or took advantage of the situation to collect fees and increase prices.
