Okay Airways suspends flights

A company spokesman for privately owned Chinese carrier Okay Airways announced Thursday that the airline will suspend flights beginning on December 15, AP reported. The suspension will last for one month. The carrier is rumored to be in a dispute with its controlling shareholders. Okay Airways is partnered with Shanghai-based Junyao Group and shares personnel, routes, marketing and management with Junyao Airlines. Junyao Group, Okay’s controlling shareholder, recently fired Okay’s president, Liu Jieyin, in the face of continued losses at the airline. Wang Junjin, chairman of Junyao and Okay, has promised not to cut jobs or reduce salaries during the suspension. Okay Airways is China’s first private carrier, with 11 planes and 20 domestic routes. It partners with FedEx Corp on cargo.
